Chairman Jeon Bong-gyu, a steadfast pillar and eternal mentor of our Association, passed away on April 23, 2026. For 17 years, he fulfilled his duties as an Executive Director and Chairman of the Association with unparalleled responsibility, dedicating himself to the advancement of the rights and welfare of people with disabilities.
Chairman Jeon’s warm leadership and deep love served as an inspiration to many and will be long remembered by the disability community. Even amidst our sorrow, we intend to carry on his legacy and move forward. We offer our deepest condolences to all those left behind and pray for the repose of his soul.
A Tribute to Mr. Bonggyu Jeon:
Mr. Bong-gyu served as a member of the Coordination Committee of ASPOA from 2017 to 2020. He was well loved by the members of KOA as he bridged the gap for them to participate in the conferences and regional meetings notwithstanding the difficulty in communicating in English.
Also, the Korean Conference in 2017 was among the well organized conference of ASPOA spearheaded by Mr. Bonggyu where the preparation for the workshops, delegates meeting, awarding and banquet were spic and span with no hitches.
During the Hurricane Maria that hit Puerto Rico, KOA under his initiative was able to send ostomy supplies for the members of Asociacion Ostomizados de Puerto Rico.
The accomplishments both local and at the regional level has shown how Mr. Bonggyu loved in helpiing the cause of ostomates. He was a good friend that will be missed for his kindness.
