Home » Lecture on Medication Efficacy and Side Effects (HKSA)
Patient education is one of the core services provided by the Hong Kong Stoma Association. In March 2026, we organized a medical lecture titled “Medication Efficacy and Side Effects.” We were honored to have Dr. Cheung, Neuro-Oncologist, as our guest speaker. Dr. Cheung shared valuable insights on the effectiveness of different medications, common side effects, and the treatment approach of “downsizing before resection.”
The lecture attracted an enthusiastic response, with many members arriving early and listening attentively. Participants actively engaged in the discussion, raising numerous questions during the interactive session. Dr. Cheung patiently explained the common risk factors for colorectal cancer, outlined typical clinical scenarios, and introduced widely used chemotherapy drugs and treatment combinations.
In this lecture, patients and caregivers gained professional medical knowledge, enabling them to better understand disease risks, drug efficacy, and side effects. The interactive Q&A provided practical support, emotional comfort, and reassurance, helping to reduce anxiety and strengthen confidence in the treatment journey.
The Hong Kong Stoma Association regularly organizes medical talks to enhance health literacy and promote mutual support within the community. These sessions empower patients and their families, fostering resilience and connection throughout the treatment process. Given the positive feedback received, the Association will continue to host more health education lectures in the future.
